About SAMELCO II

Operating on a non-stock, non-profit basis, the Samar II Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SAMELCO II) provides an affordable quality electric service to 16 municipalities in the Province of Samar, particularly Catbalogan, Jiabong, Motiong, Paranas, San Sebastian, Hinabangan, Calbiga, Pinabacdao, Villareal, Sta. Rita, Talalora, Basey, Marabut, Daram, Zumarraga and San Jose de Buan. SAMELCO II was incorporated on August 23, 1975. It holds office at Brgy. Arado, Paranas, Samar with service centers in the municipalities of Catbalogan and Basey. Its main source of power comes from Tongonan Geothermal Plant in Ormoc, Leyte and maintains three 5MVA substations located at Catbalogan, Paranas, and Brgy. Bagolibas, Sta. Rita. As of December 31, 2006, the electric cooperative supplies the electrical needs of 45,330 Member-Consumers. SAMELCO II is guided by the Board of Directors elected per district by the Member-Consumers themselves. Directors serve three-year terms. Presently carrying out their terms as Directors are:

  • Alfonso F. Quilapio (District III, Paranas-San Sebastian) as PresidentMansueto M. Delovino (District VII, Basey-Marabut) as Vice PresidentDeborah T. Marco, Ph. D. (District I, Catbalogan) as Secretary/TreasurerAtty. Medino L. Acuba (District II, Jiabong-Motiong) as Public Information Officer (PIO), and
  • Raul A. De Guzman (District IV, Hinabangan-Calbiga) as PIO as well.
Acting as Board Ex-Officio member is General Manager Ponciano R. Rosales who heads a dynamic team of management staff composed of:
  • Engr. Eduardo V. Aroza (Chief, Membership Services Department)Engr. Gervacio C. Chavez, Jr. (Manager, Technical Services Department)Olivia D. Cabaliza (Finance Manager), and
  • Joey F. Talon (Internal Auditor).

Adhering for total consumer satisfaction, SAMELCO II sustains its commitment to provide the best possible electric service at a reasonable cost for all SamareƱo communities it serves.
