TACLOBAN CITY –The 15tgh National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in the region will culminate with closing and awarding ceremonies on October 29, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at the DOLE regional office here. The activity will be participated in by the different line agencies, LGUs, SUCs and the private sector in the region.

Special guests would be the newly-elected RDC Chair, Governor Rosette Y. Lerias of Southern Leyte.

The major highlight of the program would be the awarding of prizes for the Search for 15 th NSM Best Activity for the following categories: (1) Best Statistical Exhibit, (2) Best Statistical Advocacy, (3) Best Statistical Contest, and (4) Best Statistical Forum.

A statistical paper entitled “Basic Data: A Tool in Local Governance” by Mayor Mel Senen S. Sarmiento, et al, which was presented during the 9 th National Convention on Statistics (NCS) in Manila, would also be featured.

A presentation of the 15 th NSM in Retrospect, which will showcase the various activities conducted by different agencies during the month of October, would be given by Evangeline M. Paran, reginalo head of NSCB.
