CATARMAN, Northern Samar – Secretary Florencio “Butch” B. Abad of the Department of Education (DepEd) is set to visit all three provinces of Samar Island this first week of December.
Abad’s first stop would be Borongan, Eastern Samar on Dec. 2 where welcome luncheon awaits him at the Eastern Samar Educator’s Convention Center (ESECC), courtesy of the Schools Division staff, provincial government officials, and stakeholders.
At the said luncheon, Abad would lead a “tribute to stakeholders” – the local chief executives and the DepEd partners, Plan Phils., Unicef and local radio station DYES. Also, he would induct officers of the Division Federated Parents and Teachers Association (FPTCA) led by its President, Juanito Pinarok. Abad would be assisted by
DepED Regional Director Sol F. Matugas and Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Soledad B. Acidre in the induction.
Eastern Samar Representative Marcelino Libanan, Governor Ben Evardone, Vice Governor Leander Geli and Board Member Enerio Sabulao, who is the chair of the Committee on Education at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, would lead the conferment of resolution and the commitment of support and tokens to the visiting cabinet member.
After the ceremonies in Borongan, Abad would immediately leave for Catarman where he is expected to arrive at the Catarman Airport at 4 p.m. He would meet all the provincial officials led by Governor Raul Daza and Vice Governor Guido Lavin jr. and all the 24 mayors and vice mayors in the province at the governor’s residence.
Abad would also attend a 30- minute press conference with local media in coordination with the Philippine Information agency (PIA) provincial office. An Educator’s Congress at the Catarman National High School, a Stakeholders Night and Dinner at the provincial auditorium, dialogue with parents and awarding of stakeholders are among the secretary’s itinerary for the night.
On the following day, December 3, Secretary Abad would attend the First Regional District Supervisor’s Convention at the DepEd Division Office, after which he will talk it over with the Division Office staff as to where the project “Pagkain Para sa Batang Norte” would be launched.
Shortly after the said launching, Abad is proceed to Lope De Vega to visit the Lope De Vega national High School which recently topped the National Achievement Tests. At Noontime, Sec. Abad would leave for Calbayog City where he would attend the same activities lined up for him here.
