DOLE’s PhilJob Net program to continue
By: Lemuel L. Pagliawan

TACLOBAN CITY – After a three long years of being unoperational, the PhilJob Net of Labor and Employment (DOLE) in the region is posed for a comeback.

According to DOLE-8 Regional Director Forter Puguon, this time the philjob.net server would be properly managed. “We will try to intensify its working applications in various regions.”

Express learned that the unavailability of the service in the past years was caused mainly when the region’s only server bugged down which practically became one of the major obstacles for the continuation of the program that time.

The philjob.net is a referral system using as a medium the technology of internet where on one part the employer can submit his need for workers and on the other hand the worker can also apply for jobs, all through the wires.

Puguon of his part said that this has been a big help to the people of the region and will be a big contribution to the worsening unemployment rate at present.

He said that this time they are doing some action to solve the problem in the shortest possible time so that the philjob.net will become operational again in Eastern Visayas. He, however, did not cite specific dates as to when the operational will start.

“At present, we are trying to enhance the capacity of the server…we are also bent on enhancing the capacity of the participating municipalities,” Puguon said.

It was learned that the participation of municipalities in the region to this program is significant to attain success and sustainability.

2This Nov. 24, DOLE will undertake training related to philjob.net of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) managers which will be held at the AMA computer school this city.

Accordingly, these PESO managers will be in-charge in the implementation of the philjob.net program, at the municipality level.

With this, the local folks could have adequate information on employment and labor market situation in the area through the Internet.
