TACLOBAN CITY – Some 500 boy and senior girl scouts, camp officials, sub-camps chiefs, sub-camp directors, heads of working committees and other guests will converge at Brgy. Lim-ao, Kananga, Leyte for the 8 th Leyte Council Provincial Invitation Jamboree on November 11-16, 2004.
Camp director Antonio “Toto” Cinco Jr. said that activities during the Jamboree include obstacle course, tree planting, ropework and backwoods engineering and industrial hike for the Boy scouts. For the Senior Scouts, activities such as field events – javelin and discuss throws and long and triple jumps – health services/clean-up, emergency service training and industrial hike are included.
Cinco revealed that other nightly activities are Hip Hop Dance Challenge for the Boy Scouts on November 12; Videoke Challenge for the Unit Leaders on November 13, and Combo Challenge for the Senior Scouts on the 14 th.
A fiesta dubbed “Kan-anga” will be hosted by the Local Government Unit of Kananga, Leyte on Monday, November 15, to be followed by a torch parade, grand campfire and the closing ceremonies.
This year’s theme, “Scouting: Adventure of a Lifetime,” is fitting since the campsite at Brgy. Lim-ao, Kananga is part of the Philippine National Oil Commission reservation area, an adventurer’s paradise.
