BORONGAN, Eastern Samar – The “One Stop Shop Job Fair 2004” held at the Capitol Building on November 6 and 7, 2004 was a great milestone of success among the Eastern Samare ños as the provincial government is celebrating a week-long series of activities and programs in line with the 39th Founding Anniversary of Eastern Samar.
Ms. Flora Belinda B. Bacosa, officer-in-charge of the Regional Consular Office in Tacloban City of the Department of Foreign Affairs, headed the DFA staff of eight personnel who were responsible in the issuance of passports. There were 144 passports, more or less, issued to passport applicants during the 2-day job f air.
This was assisted by the NSO regional office group headed by Mr. Felimon S. Garcia Jr. and five staff, while Isagani Permeko and Antonio Adona represented the NBI and Nestor S. Zeta represented the PRC. The DOLE-Region 8 was headed by Regional Directorr Forter G. Puguon with, his staff of nine, supported by Marlon Arago and Mylene Pagapos of the DOLE-Provincial Extension Office of Eastern Samar.
There were more than 700 applicants for jobs abroad who filed their registration with the opportunity to land jobs abroad.
Fifteen job applicants were given outright job placements abroad as announced by the four recruitment agencies that attended the job fair. These agencies were PMG Overseas Manpower Services Co., SAMSEVEN Manpower Services, Inc.; ALCARE Manpower Service Corporation, and Emerald International Manpower Services Corporation, all based in Cebu City.
Meanwhile, the Sumpayan Basketball Club held the Grand Opening of the 3 rd Conference of the Gov. Ben P. Evardone Cup 2004 at the Provincial Capitol on Monday8, November 8, 2004. Atty. Noli Eala, PBA Commissioner, was the keynote speaker who officially declared the opening of the SBC 3rd Conference and Gov. Ben P. Evardone made his inspirational talk. The governor extended his sincere congratulations to the people behind the Sumpayan Basketball Club officials, team managers, coaches, sponsors, the people supporting them and most of all, the prayers. “Pinaagi han sports, iwasi ta an droga,” the governor said.
The seven participating teams are Medicus, Islander, FBI (Bagers), San Julian Wildcats, JM Café, DepEd and Capitol. SBC program director Jun E. F. Grata delivered then welcome remarks and Vener T. Dulfo, team manager of the Capitol, made the closing remarks.
