TACLOBAN CITY – Chief Supt. Dionisio Coloma, Jr., PNP regional chief and other police top officials challenged Mayor Alfredo “Bejo” Romualdez to conduct a surprise drug teat to a city government employee suspected to be involved in illegal drug use and other illegal drug activities in violation of RA 9165 known as Comprehensive Anti-illegal Drugs Law.
This after a team of the anti-illegal drugs special operations task force arrested an employee of the city government for the second time in possession of illegal drugs.
Danilo Vergara, 43, a regular employee of city hall and detailed at the city engineers office yielded 17 pieces of small sachets of shabu during a raid conducted by the police the other day at his house in Brgy. 62-A Sagkahan district.
With the arrest of Vergara, Coloma asked the mayor’s support to recommend for dismissal from the service city hall employees who are arrested due to illegal drugs, so that the Civil Service Commission will also have a role in the anti-illegal drug campaign.
The raiding police team was armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Leonilo Apita, executive judge of the regional trial court branch 7.
A few moths ago, another employee of the city government assigned at the city agriculture office was also arrested by the anti-illegal drug operatives in a buy bust operation, but up to this time the suspected drug pusher is still in the government service.
“I am suspecting na meron pang ibang impliyado na gumagamit dyan sa city hall, kaya nga we are appealing to the mayor na magkaroon sila nga random drug test … this is to endure na ang mga nasa gobyerno ay free from illegal drug use,” Coloma said.
Several days after Coloma issued another warning to drug lords in the region to stop their nefarious activities the number 15 most wanted drug lord in the region was gunned down in the downtown area of Borongan, Eastern Samar identified as one Raul Daza.
Police record show that Daza was the number 15 drug personality killed by unidentified gunmen. All of those cases remain unsolved.
