Coloma warns drug lords anew
By: Coloma warns drug lords anew - Staff Writer

TACLOBAN CITY – Chief Supt. Dionisio Coloma Jr., police regional director here, has issued another stern warning to drug lords, pushers, financiers and others involved in the drug trade in the region to stop their operations.

Coloma told the media in a news conference that operatives of the Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOFT) continue to witness the continuing discreet operations of those involved in illegal drugs, particularly “shabu,” in most parts of the region.

During the same occasion, AIDSOFT operatives headed by Coloma conducted a video tape showing to the media that showed rampant illegal drug activities in Sagkahan area, this city. Coloma said these illegal activities corrupt the morality of the minor children as well as young women in society, with some of them being addicted to the prohibited substance and in the process destroying their future.

Coloma, who asserted his commitment to eradicate illegal drugs in the region some two years ago, revealed that he would use his remaining 11 months of police service in chasing drug lords and pushers. He is set to retire late next year.

Meanwhile, a suspected drug pusher, identified as Randy Lopez of Tacloban City, was presented by Coloma after he was arrested by police operatives.

Lopez, was collared by the elements of AIDSOFT allegedly while in pos1sesion of 106 grams of shabu with an estimated market value of P100, 000, in a buy-bust operation at Barangay 54-A Sagkahan. The suspect has reportedly been under police surveillance and monitoring for about a month before his arrest.

In a separate operation, an employee at this city engineering office was also arrested yesterday morning by police operatives.

Tacloban police chief, Supt. Arnulfo Cruz identified the arrested person as Danny Guevarra. He was collared in a raid at his residence in cooperation with officials of Barangay 52, also of Sagkahan.

Some 50 sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from him during the search and seizure conducted by the operatives, the police said.
