TACLOBAN CITY – Atty. Zacarias Saragoza has formally assumed his post as Commission on Elections regional director in Eastern Visayas.
Saragoza replaced lawyer Adolfo Ibañez who has been serving as Comelec chief in Region 8 for almost two-decades, but was temporarily detailed at the Comelec central office just for the May 14 synchronized national and local elections.
Prior to his new assignment, Saragoza was Comelec regional director in Region 5. He formally assumed his office here on Monday.
However, it was a great surprise for the local media when Saragoza refused to be interviewed without prior notice and appointment.
In a brief interview, Saragoza warned local media to follow this policy under his administration so that enough time and prior dissemination of information to the public will efficiently be implemented with the cooperation of Comelec and the media regarding the May 14 polls |
