TACLOBAN CITY – A new mayor and vice mayor for the town of Babatngon.
Yesterday, the three member municipal board canvassers proclaimed both Charito Chan and Winston Menzon as mayor and vice mayor of the town as thy garnered more votes than their respective rivals.
Chan garnered total votes of 5,740 votes while Menzon, an erstwhile town councilor, received total votes of 6,672.
Chan and Menzon defeated incumbent Mayor Ernesto Fabi, who is in his first term, and Vice Mayor Rafael Delis, who was also on his first term,
Also proclaimed as winners were Redentor Gaspay; Ma. Fe Rondana; Ceferino Lacaba, Jr.; Alejandro Salvo; James Engle; Federico Elizaga; Angelito Cañete and Lucas Codilan as members if the town council.
The new officials have vowed to make the town, 37 kms away from here, one of the Leyte’s more progressive towns.
