TACLOBAN CITY - The regional office of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) here has formally filed the other day a murder case against Dagami, Leyte councilor Louie Sudario and his wife for the alleged murder of Roy Carolino, son of former Samar Election Supervisor lawyer Federico Carolino, now mayor elect of Capoocan, Leyte.
In a seven-page complaint before the City Prosecutions Office, NBI Regional Director Antonio Pagatpat filed criminal charges against the Sudario couple and a John Doe in connection with the November 14, 2006 killing of Carolino at the V&G subdivision, this city, where the NBI found the respondents to have connived in the said murder case.
Witnesses Renz Marlon Tiozon and Terence Tutaan, who were having a light drinking session at the garage several meters away from the crime scene, declared in their sword statements that they heard a loud voice shouting for help, prompting them to run towards the basketball court beside the V&G subdivision mini city hall where the Sudario house is located and saw Carolino lying on the ground with stab wounds.
The witnesses said that after attacking the victim the suspect simply walked back inside and entered the house of the couple.
After the stabbing incident, the responding policemen recovered the cellular phone of Carolino which was found inside the house of Louie Sudario and his wife Mary Ann as well as the T-shirt of the victim inside the couple’s living room and likewise the victim’s bicycle.
Pagatpat said that the text messages coming from the mobile phone of Mary Ann Sudario helped a lot in solving the crime.
The cell number of Mary Ann was also confirmed by the NBI investigators through her personal date sheet submitted at the Civil Service Commission.
Before the death of the victim, text messages showed that Mary Ann invited Carolino to go to their house.
NBI investigation also revealed that Mary Ann, who is an employee of the Kananga Community Hospital, was rumored to be having an alleged illicit affair with Carolino.
However, sworn statements of the respondents belied the allegations, saying that they do not personally know the victim.
The NBI believes that the lone unidentified attacker was a hired killer of the spouses and was the one who stabbed to death the victim.
Pagatpat said the NBI declared this case as solved and is only waiting for the disposition of the City Prosecutors Office where the case is now pending for resolution.
The NBI director also believes that with the sufficient evidence and the testimony of the witnesses, the case will be submitted for court litigation.
“We have a good fight against this case... we have evidences to support our claims and the testimony of the witnesses themselves,” he added.
Carolino was found dead at the front gate of the house of spouses Sudario around 9 p.m. of November 14, 2006 with multiple stab wounds. |
