TACLOBAN CITY - The Department of Health (DOH) here is promoting public advisory and awareness on healthy kidney as part of their advocacy in celebrating the National Kidney Month which started last June 1 and will continue up to the end of the month.

In celebrating the National Kidney Month, DOH aims prevention and control of kidney disease reason why part of the said celebration is an orientation and advisory not only to the public but also to nurses.

Marissa Nicolasora, public information officer, said that they would be having an orientation seminar to be participated in by DepEd nurses in the province for more educational information.

“At least ha ira level mahibaro na hira kon ano iton depekto hiton bata kon pananglitan,” Niculasora said.

To prevent kidney, DOH advises the public to drink 6-8 glasses of water and adequate volume of juices. They advised also to limit intake of alcoholic beverages the same with salt to control high blood pressure. Taking large amount of painkillers, especially drugs containing a combination of caffeine, acetaminophen and asperin must be avoided because combination agents such as these are associated with an increased risk of kidney disease.

Exercise is also advised such as walking for 30 minutes at least three times a week and smoking is strictly prohibited because it can contribute to kidney deterioration. Diabetic patients are most prone to kidney disease, Niculasora added.

As of now, DOH has conducted a radio guesting and series of information drive on prevention and control of the said disease.
