Tacloban City - A 3.5 magnitude earthquake was felt in Leyte yesterday morning with the Philippine Fault Line (Leyte Segment) as the source.
Bobby Cañete of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, which is stationed in Palo, Leyte, said that the 6:44 tremor was felt in the towns of Jaro, Alangalang, both at intensity 3; Palo, Ormoc City and this city at intensity 2.
The epicenter of the tremor, which was of tectonic origin, was located at 27 kilometers northeast of Ormoc City, 110 kms away from this city.
No damages as a result of the tremor were reported, Cañete said.
"It was just a minor one," he said.
Yesterday's tremor was the third to occur just this month in Eastern Visayas with the Philippine Fault Lines as the identified source.
Last Jan. 6, a minor earthquake with a 4.0 magnitude was felt in Borongan, provincial capital of Eastern Samar followed two days after with 3.8 magnitude which was also felt in the same area. |
