TACLOBAN CITY – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) operatives in the region arrested a total of 15 wanted persons in Eastern Visayas (EV) from January to March this year.
This was according to the 2007 1 st Quarter Accomplishment Report furnished to the local media by CIDG RO8 Regional Chief Efren Dalumpines.
The report further stated that 10 of the arrested individuals came from Leyte, two from Western Samar, while the rest came from Biliran, Eastern Samar and Southern Leyte.
Also, according to the report, the arrested persons have standing arrest warrants and facing strings of criminal and civil cases-robbery, homicide, reckless imprudence, estafa – before various courts in Region 8.
Dalupines said that the arrest of those individuals is an important accomplishment and that he will not stop nor waver in his campaign to arrest wanted individuals from all over the country who are living or operating in the region.
“I salute my men for a job well done. This is morale-boosting victory against criminal elements and wanted persons that have long eluded the law,” he stressed.
“Last year, we have made big strides under Oplan Pagtutugis (campaign against wanted persons). I have made it clear at the start of 2007 that the particular campaign would also be one of our priorities and I’m glad that we have made big accomplishments to that effect in the first quarter of this year,” he added.
Last 2006, a total of 95 wanted persons, including prominent members of several kidnap-for-ransom (KFR) groups, were captured by CIDG RO8 operatives in different parts of the region.
“We will not stop nor waver in this campaign. We will hunt down and capture all wanted person in EV, and with our first quarter accomplishment. I believe that we can surpass this 2007 what we have accomplished last year,” he said.
