ORMOC CITY – Through a Tripartite Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) recently signed between PhilHealth, PASAR Corporation and the municipality of Isabel, Leyte, 75 indigent families will have free health care coverage. Under the said agreement, PASAR will shoulder 100 percent of the LGU share of the premium contribution on a yearly basis.
As members of the Sponsored Program of PhilHealth, the enrolled families will be able to avail of the Out-Patient Consultation and Diagnostic (OPB) Package at the Rural Health Unit (RHU) as well as in-patient benefits when confined in an accredited hospital. The member will only have to show his/her valid PhilHealth ID to avail of the benefits in the RHU or in the hospital.
The OPB benefits consist of medical consultation, chest x-ray, complete blood count, urinalysis, fecalysis and sputum microscopy. The in-patient benefits, on the other and, consist of subsidy for room and board and operating room as well as allowances for drugs and medicines, laboratories and doctor’s professional fee including those of surgeon and anesthesiologist fees. There are also out-patient benefits which include minor surgical procedure, cataract extraction, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hemodialysis.
PASAR is just one of the few private institutions with a high sense of corporate social responsibility who heeded the call of PhilHealth to help the poor in our society have access to quality health care.
According to Ricardo Santiago, PASAR Senior Vice President, ensuring the health of one of their stakeholders, especially the poor families in their community is one of their concerns.
Mayor Roberto Fuentes of Isabel, Leyte has been very grateful to PASAR for sponsoring the PhilHealth coverage of his poor constituents.
On the other hand, Atty. Reynaldo Capangpangan of PhilHealth is calling on other private companies as well as individual to emulate the examples of PASAR, thus contributing to the upliftment of the quality of life of the poor.
