TACLOBAN CITY – In support to the government’s thrust for quality education, the office of first congressional district through Rep. Remedios “Matin” L. Petilla, has constructed school buildings in different towns in the first district of Leyte province.
For the year 2005, Petilla has completed construction of 10 elementary school buildings in Brgys. Salazar, San Diego, Salvacion, San Isidro, and one in Agro Industrial School in Brgy. Binongto-an all in Alang-alang, Leyte.
The other school buildings were Tolosa National High School in Tolosa, Leyte; Brgy. Kinalumsan Primary school in San Miguel town; Tanauan Leyte school of craftsmanship (two classrooms) and in Brgy. Uban, Babatngon, Leyte.
It was learned that at least P400,000 was spent for every classroom.
Also last year, repairs of school buildings were made in Kauswagan National High School, Palo and in San Victor Elementary School in Tanauan. School building repairs are also on-going in Brgys. Dapdap, Lourdes, Magsaysay, Langit, Salvacion, Calaasan, and Binongto-an all in Alang-alang, Leyte.
To improve government facilities, Petilla has also implemented and completed construction of multi-purpose halls. These were the Tanauan municipal building, gymnasium (improvement) in Tolosa, municipal building (repair) in Palo and executive building (Phase I) in Babatngon, Leyte.
Among other projects the congresswoman has implemented in her districts were construction of shoreline protection and flood control in Brgy. Cogon, Palo and Brgy. Sta. Cruz, San Miguel, Leyte. Concrete quick bridges were also constructed in Brgy. Nagaasan and Malibago in Babatngon while there were also two other almost finished bridges in Brgy. Hubang I and II in Alang-alang town.
The attraction at the RTR plaza, this city plaza during night time, which is the fountain bearing colored lights and a continuously flowing water, was also one of her projects last year, it was learned.
