TACLOBAN CITY – Rep. Remedios “Matin” Petilla commended Sen. Mar Roxas for taking time out from his hectic schedule and join a dialogue with the mayors in the first of Leyte last Sunday morning.
Roxas, who arrived here on board the first flight, dropped by the city to meet some local officials before proceeding to Albuera town to attend a wedding ceremony, it was learned.
That morning, he was also the guest of the radio program “Democracy in Action” over MBC-DYVL hosted by Niel Glova, commentator Atty. Aurel Menzon, and President Assistant for Eastern Visayas Sec. Victor “Vic” Domingo.
Petilla described the senator as “very active” and “very concerned” to the affairs of the people especially those in the countryside.
She said the senator had a consultation and met with the seven mayors from the first district and the other leaders in the province including the Provincial Administrator Vincent Emnas.
A breakfast meeting was held at the Petilla’s residence in Palo, Leyte.
Petilla said she was able to inform Sen. Roxas that Leyte is presently into agribusiness, establishment of fish cages, continued promotion and propagation of high value vegetables in farms.
According to Petilla, the young senator promised to support the said projects that the local government in the first district and in the whole of Leyte are implementing.
“What we need here in our place is to strengthen the organization of our farmers,’ Petilla said.
Petilla said that Roxas assured her that Leyte would have a good marketing of its products in Manila, which is the main objective also of the leadership of the lady solon.
“We were able to talk about how to do the promotion of the products in Leyte, and there was a full assurance of support from him to the farmers and fishermen in Leyte province,” Petilla said.
According to her, Roxas promised to use his access in marketing in the promotion of the products of Leyte “but we have first to improve the volume of our products being produced, the packaging, and the consistency of the supply.”
