TACLOBAN CITY - The Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry here in Eastern Visayas has congratulated the Taiwanese rescuers who recently helped in the search and rescue operation for landslide victims in Brgy. Guinsaugon, St. Bernard, Southern Leyte.
Henry Yaokasin, president of the Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce, told local media during yesterday’s press conference that the Taiwanese government has sent their rescuers to help the search and rescue operations in St. Bernard.
Yaokasin said that their group, the Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce, has also sent to St. Bernard more relief goods such as rice, noodles, tooth brush, blanket, utensils, slippers and medicines intended to the mudslide survivors in the three evacuation centers — the St. Bernard Central School, the Cristo Rey Regional High School and the San Isidro Parish Convent.
Yaokasin added that during their relief operations in the three evacuation centers, the officers of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry had meet with Gov. Rosette Lerias and the local officials of St. Bernard led by Mayor Maria Lim. He added that they assured them that the Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry will help in the construction of new houses for the landslide survivor and the construction of a new school building.
During the affair, City Mayor Alfredo “Bejo” Romualdez of Tacloban City also thanked the Taiwanese rescuers and the Taiwanese Government for their help.
Mayor Romualdez said the city government has also sent the Tacloban City rescuers to Brgy. Guinsaugon and relief goods for the victims.
Meanwhile, Jorge Tiopes, member of the board of the COCOLIFE, has visited the landslide survivor Analiza Magtupa who is now confined at the Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center (EVRMC) and donated P1, 000 to the victim.
