TACLOBAN CITY - Showing full support in the promotion of tourism, arts and culture in Leyte, Rep. Remedios L. Petilla personally accompanied the Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company to the Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Corporation (PASAR) in Isabel Leyte for its performance last Feb. 9.
Petilla said the visit and performance of the dance was at the same time to get some financial support from PASAR because the group will have a presentation in Hongkong and will be leaving by March for the International Flower Festival which will be held from March 18-13.
It was learned that the Leyte Kalipayan Dance Company will also perform in Hongkong during the festival aside from other groups coming from Leyte that will participate in the display of fabulous flowers in the festival.
At PASAR office, Petilla and the group company were personally received by Ricardo Santiago, Jr., senior vice president, Mirardo Malazarte, SVP for operations and production and Thomas Gonzales, assistant to the president for operation and production.
During the performance of the dance company, employees of PASAR did have a quality entertainment as an “ice breaker” of the usual office works. After the presentation, Santiago accompanied Petilla and the dance group and led them to tour around plant. The visit wined up with a snack at the four hectares PASAR protected fish sanctuary where the filtered and treated waste water from the plant drops.
Santiago further told Petilla during their brief talk, that PASAR has some expansion program that are being worked out at present inside the 400 hectares Leyte Industrial Development Estate (LIDE) where PASAR is located being Leyte’s economic zone.
In the coming years, Santiago said big companies will also operate business at LIDE.
