TACLOBAN CITY – To ensure the convenience and security, Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla and the Provincial Government of Leyte are pushing for the implementation of the disbursement of wages and salaries by automated teller machine (ATM) through the Philippine national Bank (PNB) starting next month.
Provincial Administrator Vincent Emnas said this new salary disbursement scheme would bring security and convenience to the more than 2, 000 permanent and casual employees of the provincial government.
He added that this would also protect employees from loan sharks, who prey on provincial employees especially when there is a delay in the release of their salaries and wages.
Emnas also said that the new system would allow convenient and fast money withdrawals to provincial employees detailed in different places in Leyt like the towns of Palompon , Baybay, Hilongos, and Ormoc City.
It was learned that the provincial government has already made representation with the management of PNB regarding the putting up of ATMs through rural banks in places where there are none, like Abuyog and Hilongos where the province has detailed personnel.
And since Leyte Academic Center is now on full operation, the Office of the Governor has also requested the PBN management to install an automated teller machine in the center to allow easy access to detailed personnel in Palo .
