TACLOBAN CITY – Taking advantage on the popularity and usefulness of text messaging, the Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) Corp. recently launched its “Txt PhilHealth” messaging service.
Gregorio Rulloda, vice president for membership contribution management group, in a press conference yesterday coinciding with the agency’s 10 th anniversary, said that with this kind of services, PhilHealth members would find it easy to ask information relative to their being a member of the state’s media insurer.
“We launched this program last Tuesday. It would now be easy for our members to ask information regarding, say, about his PhilHealth identofiacton number or about his benefits,” Rolluda said.
He also sauid that through this scheme, the members would be more conscious of their rights as members of the PhilHealth.
He, howver, said that the program would be impleented on a full-scale basis by July 1, 2005 yet.
If one memberrt is to inquire abnoput his benfirt, for example, all he will do is type PHIC<space> BENEFIT, his name and birth date and send to eithr 296 or 2960. Presto, he will know the informatiom he is adsking.
For his part, Atty. Reynaldo Capangpangan, assistant vice president and at the sam time, chief of PhilHealth – 8 office, said thatr through this kind of service there ia no need for the members to personnaly visit their office just to inquire.
“It will be convenient for them now by just using this scheme,” Capangpangan said.
