Gov. Petilla allots P1 M for EVRAA meet in April

TACLOBAN CITY – Gracing the recent Leyte Provincial Meet, Governor\r Carlos Jericho “Icot” Petilla allocated a P1 million fund fro the Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) meet that is set to be held in April this year.

In his message during the provincial meet in Burauen, Leyte Gov. Petilla disclosed that there was really no fund intended fore the EVRAA but because the province wants to make sure that the athletic event would push through, he tried his best to look for fund.

The governor handed the P1 million allocations for the upcoming EVRAA to Leyte School Division Superintendent Aurora Aquino Villarente.

Gov. Petilla disclosed that the EVRAAA would be held in Maasin City this April. Adding that id in case EVRAA would be postponed, the province hopes that the South Asian Game or Palarong Pambansa would be held in the country, better if it would be in the region or in the province.

In the 13-hectare venue in Burauen Sports Complex and Burauen Comprehensive National High School, upon the governor’s arrival, the principal Angeles Asis SSPII, student-players, coaches, and other teachers got excited of the supportive presence of the governor, inspiring and encouraging the schools with his message to do their best to win in various athletic competitions.

Delegates to the provincial meet came form the different Leyte towns.

With the 2005 Division Selection of Athletes, the overall medals garnered by congressional districts were: in the elementary division, 1 st District received 22 Gold, 51 Silver, 18 Bronze (2 nd Place); 2 nd District with 44 Gold, 30 Silver, 16 Bronze (Champion); 3 rd District with 13 Gold (3 rd Place); 4 th District with 32 Gold, 10 Silver, 11 Bronze (1 st Place); and 5 th District with 5 Gild, 17 Silver, 9 Bronze (4 th Place). In the secondary division, District 1 acquired 61 Gold, 45 Silver, 30 Bronze (Champion); District 2 with 31 Gold, 18 Silver, 38 Bronze (2 nd Place); District 3 with 8 Gold, 13 Silver, 6 Bronze (4 th Place); District 4 with 34 Gold, 50 Silver, 17 Bronze (1 st Place); and District 5 with 9 Gold, 24 Silver, 9 Bronze (3 rd Place)
