While its students were busy relaxing and savoring the summer vacation, the LNU compound was also abuzz with the latest developments and refurbishments designed for the safety of its students. Two projects were recently undertaken since May 17 of this year, one being the repair of the Brillo Hall and the other, the construction of a drainage system.
LNU’s Brillo Hall, one of the oldest buildings in the university named after the pioneer educator of the institution, Mrs. Jesusa Araullo Brillo, underwent repair and repainting shortly before classes commenced this school year.
Brillo Hall, home to the pupils of the Integrated Laboratory School (ILS) was restored due to some dilapidated parts, roof leaks, and destroyed or missing windows, according to Mr. Pablo U. Amascual, Chief Administrative Officer, in an interview with the An Lantawan. The contract with Cobacha construction allotted 45 days for the project with a budget of P689, 046.94.
Classes in the ILS started on June 21, 2010 to give way to minor repairs in some parts of the building.
On the other hand, a drainage system was built in the school premises to prevent flooding in the university. The LNU drainage system will run from the ORC building to the Administration building and the Supreme Student Council (SSC) down to Mangonbangon Creek, with a budget of P 1,196,095.02, as disclosed by Ms. Juvy Mariano, the University and Board Secretary.
The contract with Victoria Construction and Development set 60 days for the construction of the drainage.
