The University starting SY 2005-2006 introduced two new course offerings, namely: Bachelor of Arts major in Mass Communication and Bachelor of Science in Tourism major in Travel and Tour Management. The two will be temporarily under the College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences.
In an interview with the Dean of CANS, Dr. Edmund Campoto, he said, that the high demands for mass com students in call centers in Metro Manila and elsewhere and the future possibility of Eastern Samar to become a tourist destination prompted the integration of the said courses into the University’s curricular offering.
Both BS Tourism and BS Mass Communication are 4-year courses, with a pioneering number of enrollees, 38 and 35, respectively.
Meanwhile, the idea of offering Bachelor of Science in Language teaching (major in English and Filipino) in the College of Education is also being studied and given due consideration. |
