A total of 4,325 officially registered students were tallied this school year first semester, based on an enrolment report prepared by the Registrar’s Office.
The data revealed that 43.51% of the students were freshmen out of the total population. The BS Computer Science held most the list of new students of 212 with 96 males and 116 females. While BS Fisheries gathered the least list of 2 new students, a male and a female. The other percentage includes 21.71 sophomores, 17.25 juniors and 17.53% seniors, of which are fourth year and fifth year students with 15.50 and 2.03 percents, respectively.
On the other hand, the College of Engineering and Technology (CET) showed as the populous field with 1, 821 total number of students.
Other follows are College of Education (COEd) with total owned students of 924, College of Business Management and Accountancy (CBMA) of 708, College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences (CANS) of 620 and Graduate Studies of total 252 students.
However, this second semester enrolment showed a drop of 8.79 percent compared to last school year’s first semester. Most courses loss students of higher year levels on rather faster rate and is not indemnified by the slow growth rate of new students.
According to some faculty members, the present economic difficulty of most Eastern Samareno family is the primary factor that triggered the decreasing rate of ESSU’s student’s population. |
