Eastern
Visayas Information Sharing
Network (EVISNet)
is a joint project of
the National Economic
and Development Authority,
Regional Office No. VIII,
the Department of Science
and Technology (DOST)
Region VIII and the Leyte
Institute of Technology.
The
project was conceptualized
in support of the President's
directive through Administrative
Order No. 322, for all
government agencies and
instrumentalities including
local government units
to undertake electronic
interconnection through
the internet to be known
as the Republic of the
Philippines WEB or RPWEB.
EVISNet
was endorsed by the RDC
Executive Committee through
Resolution No. 7 on April
7, 1998 and the RDC Council
Proper through Resolution
No. 23 on September 11,
1998.

EVISNet
is a secondary internet
service provider which
aims to set in place a
communication and information
exchange system among
government offices in
the region and promote
greater efficiency in
intergovernmental communication.

The
immediate output of EVISNet
is to establish an information
sharing network among
government offices in
the region and set up
a one-stop information
shop for the region. Eventually,
EVISNet will go into IT
trainings such as web
page design, use of the
internet and other IT
related trainings. An
integrated database will
also be established which
will be accessible to
the member agencies.

EVISNet office and its
equipment is located at
the Ground Floor, of NEDA
Building, Government Center,
Palo, Leyte, Philippines. |
